The promises of high buildings are the rooftops. Even when building are not very high rooftops decorations are attractions to tourist and local visitors. Indeed, the CARLTON Hotel in my city has one of the amazing rooftops you have ever seen. The early morning, when the air is still fresh and breathable, is the perfect time to visit this fulfilling spot. Decorated with real plants, round wooden tables and wooden chairs visitors are allowed to order a cup of freshly brewed coffee and a pastry of their choice. Also, a great place for retailers who start work later at nine-thirty. When you live like us food is no longer a commodity. It is the experiences, the scents, the fragrances that gets us through the long working hours. In a city where every corner is a pastry shop, a dumpling spot or a face peeling offer, it is not hard to find your space.
Ten years ago we were on the path to authenticity. This suggested we would be shopping Brazilian Yerba Mate, Chadian Chébé powder, exotic Japanese Yuzu etc etc. However, between 45th Big street and 7th Avenue square our choices changed. Local and regional products took over the consumers’ mind. Now, we begin to ask for fat fried fries instead of olive oil fried fries. We are now looking for French avocado and French custards! Products from the territory are increasingly the selling point. If it doesn’t have the country flag printed on the packaging then it is not from the region. You should switch. Ask for an alternative. Feel disgusted if you don’t find your language on the label. You should ask for the meaning of any ingredient you do not know… Has the consumer become more sophisticated? Or are we more intoxicated with NO Palm Oil and NO Additives Ads? These type of Ads are created to make the viewer feel good rather than articulating a truly consistent message. These type of Ads will not promote benefits and quality of products, rather they underline the harmful additives and the harmful fats.
A plan that prioritises local producers and retailers is not noxious. In fact, such plans become economic agendas. A President imposing tariffs on imports indicate the willingness to bring home manufacturing plants and products that can be fully produced in the country. Or at least, finished in United States of America. So, when we seat for a cup of coffee on one of these beautifully decorated, fulfilling rooftops we are hoping to have received amazing coffee from a nearby producers. We will then pour these grounded coffee into a professional barista coffee machine and serve to a hardworking, but cheerful, workforce. Coffee and pastry are just few items on a rooftop menu. Designed to deliver unforgettable experiences, a rooftop restaurant or Bistrot can provide a complete catering and hospitality services.
I have asked for my usual pastry. I found this new pastry during one of my visits to CARLTON’s rooftop. Some would say it is something you would share with a love one. I say it is a delicate dream in every bite. This slit bagel topped with a good quantity of sour cream, salmon and Allium tuberosum, chives. Half a class of coffee and the other half of crème fraiche sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon on the top is the perfect way to start my day. As I sip my coffee and take little bites of bagel I watch the early morning cloud movements as the town begins to steam. The plaza sets the scenery for a busy day with people, delivery trucks and for delivery vans. At this time the street lights are deemed, the sun is yet to , and the early workforce is heading to the train station. The sound is synchronised as the crowd move and speak to each other.
So, where is my bagel breakfast from? The delivery trucks bring everything we eat in the city. Everything we eat is brought in from other regions of France. The beer we drink is sometimes produced in Brussels, however, this is not always the case. You are able to find all sorts of beers in France, including rice beer. Yes, the sound is synchronised as every partner takes its’ place in the delivery operation. Just like the Coca-Cola company delivers filled bottles to retailer, bread, pastry, sour-cream, milk and other essentials are delivered to city restaurants and pubs. I continue to sip my glass of coffee as I enjoy the scent of coffee and cinnamon mixed together. I turn my head from the plaza to read a new Coca-Cola billboard ad. It reads ‘share a coke with Friends…’ the other parts of this Ad implies a geolocation approach. Daily coffee drinking is linked to major health benefits in women. A study presented on Monday at NUTRITION 2025, the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition which took place in Orlando, suggests each additional cup of coffee was linked to a two percent and up to a five percent greater chance of healthier aging. It is also presented that coffee’s bioactive compounds — particularly polyphenols and antioxidants — might influence molecular aging pathways, including inflammation, metabolism and vascular health.
We have often found coffee in cosmetic formulas especially in those products formulated for sensitive skin, pigmented, highly pigmented skin and redness. Coffee is an effective exfoliator, leaving the skin soft, smooth, and rejuvenated. Results are transformative as described by HORACE. I take my last bite of pastry before I return home. It is delicious!
At oosyn we recommend mixing grounded coffee with a gentle soap or gel, in the absence of coffee formulated formulas, for exfoliation.
